BIOLASE IS A WORLD LEADER IN LASER EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Course Objectives
Theoretical background, clinical indications, hands on are integral parts of the workshop. Biophysical basics and laser safety fundamentals are integrated in the course program. All relevant clinical indications of the 2780nm Er,Cr:YSGG laser and the 940nm diode laser will be showed and demonstrated. You will learn the clinical indication during the different lectures.
After finishing this workshop, you will be able to treat your patients adequate and successful with your WaterLase iPlus! The objective of the course is to enable dentists to treat patients with laser as a complement and laser-based therapeutic methods, as highly qualified specialists, and in a responsible manner.
Congress Lectures:
Prof. Dr. Norbert Gutknecht
Prof. Gutknecht studied medicine and dentistry from 1979 – 1989 at the Universities of Bochum, Florence and Aachen. Beginning in 1989 he worked as a scientific researcher at the University Hospital of the RWTH Aachen University. In 1990 and 1992 he did scientific research studies in the field of dental laser therapy at the University California San-Francisco, USA. In 1993 he completed his Doctoral Thesis “Dr. med. dent” (PhD). In 1995 he received his “Master in application of Nd:YAG lasers in dentistry” in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. In 1998 he became an Assoc. Professor at the Department of Operative Dentistry at Aachen University Medical and Dental Faculty. In 2003 he was appointed as a full-time Professor at Aachen University, Medical and Dental Faculty.
Dr Rana Al-Falaki - BDS, MFDS RCSI, MClinDent, MRD RCS
Dr Al-Falaki has been on the UK specialist list in periodontics for 15 years. She has worked in the hospital system as part of the undergraduate and post-graduate programs, and as an associate specialist. She was the first UK periodontist to use lasers in her daily practice.
She is conducting research on its applications and also lectures both in the UK and internationally on the subject and is pioneering its use in this field. She has published articles and presented research on the use of Er,Cr:YSGG lasers in both periodontology and peri-implantitis. She is an honorary lecturer at Kings College, University of London, a visiting professor to the Medical University of Taipei, a fellow of the International Academy of Dento-Facial Esthetics, and founder of the Global Periodontal Laser User Society.
Dr. Pilar Martín
Dr. Pilar Martín studied Medicine, Surgery and Dentistry from 1983 to 1987 at the Universities of La Laguna (Spain) and Universidad Odontológica Dominicana (Santo Domingo). In 1996, Dr. Pilar completed her Post Graduate Course in Cosmetic Dentistry at the Baylor Collage of Dentistry in Texas. She has also been prepared in the field of surgery with the Master in Implantology, Surgery, Periodontics and Prosthodontics in the University of Bern (Switzerland) in 2002. 2010 she earned the European Master Degree in Oral Laser Applications in the University of Barcelona. After that, she received her Master of Laser in Dermoaesthetic Pathology in the University of Barcelona. She is currently finishing her Master of Science in Lasers in Dentistry in the RWHT University of Aachen.
